App: Be My Eyes – Bringing sight to blind and low-vision people

By October 22, 2019October 24th, 2019Apps, Resource

I’m going to start sharing apps that that I find particularly helpful or useful along with a brief description of the app and what it might be useful for.

Description

Be My Eyes is a an app that connects blind and low-vision people with sighted volunteers for help with tasks that require vision–identifying a food item, reading small print, checking ingredients, etc.

I had forgotten about this app until recently I was working with someone who was home-bound, but for whom service to others was an important value. This was a way to re-engage that value by providing service without needing to leave the house.
