Recently, I shared a short video about empathy from the Cleveland Clinic. If you didn’t get a chance to watch, find it here.
I’ve always enjoyed using popular media to illustrate a point. Those who went to school with me probably remember that I always tried to include a clip from M*A*S*H to demonstrate the point of my presentations. One way to demonstrate empathy is to use active listening skills, which a key component of Motivational Interviewing . Here is a clip of Raymond Barone, the father from the hit TV show Everybody Loves Raymond, demonstrating active listening with his child, and then his wife. Enjoy.
If you enjoyed that, here is a short playlist of other examples of active listening from popular TV shows.
