Heads Up–CDC Concussion Information

Concussions, especially youth concussion can have a life-long impact on a whole variety of areas including motor, sensory, and neurocognitive abilities. In addition, lifelong health impacts include increased risk of chronic headache, dizziness, vertigo, concentration problems, mood disorders and PTSD, and increased impulsiveness . In recent years there has been an increased awareness of the risks associated with concussion by parents, athletes and coaches, but many myths still persist .

Under the new Topics menu of the website, there is a section on youth concussions with information and resources provided by the CDC. Please feel free to check it out, especially if you work with children or adolescents who play sports.
