The Northwest Immigrant and Refugee Health Coalition (NWIRHC), a group of doctors, social workers, educators, and others who have been working together to improve the health of refugees and asylum seekers in our communities, released a statement of solidarity, signed by over 50 organizations, reaffirming their dedication to uphold the human rights of refugees and immigrant. As Washington is one of the top 10 recipients of refugees each year, they felt compelled to issue a statement of support in the face of a rise of hate speech particularly directed against Muslims, refugees, and undocumented immigrants. The full text of the statement, as well as a list of signatory organizations is available on their website.
Toolkits for both healthcare providers and individuals are available on the website as well. These toolkits provide information on screening for and reporting bullying and harassment.
